Did you know it’s National Moth Week?
Butterflies often steal the spotlight, but moths are every bit as fascinating—and in my opinion, some are even more spectacular.
One of my favorite species is the Madagascan Sunset Moth (Urania ripheus). With its iridescent greens, blues, oranges, reds, and purples, it looks almost too beautiful to be real. Every time I paint one, I’m reminded that nature is the greatest artist of all.
To celebrate Moth Week, I’d like to offer you a special opportunity.
In this self-paced class you’ll learn how to create a scientifically accurate painting of this extraordinary species while building skills you can apply to painting butterflies, moths, and other insects.
Here’s what you’ll receive:
• Lifetime access—learn at your own pace and revisit the lessons anytime.
• 22 step-by-step video lessons
• 5 downloadable handouts and reference materials
• A complete watercolor painting demonstration of the Madagascan Sunset Moth.
• Bonus Lesson: Learn how to render the same moth in colored pencil, giving you two different approaches to illustrating this incredible insect.
Want to paint from a real specimen?
I’ve also partnered with BicBugs. If you’d like to purchase your own Madagascan Sunset Moth specimen to study while you paint, you’ll receive 15% off your BicBugs order using the special discount information included with the class. Their museum-quality specimens are an incredible resource for artists and naturalists alike. BicBugs
