Celebrate World Lemur Day and Support the Incredible Work of Chase Wildlife Sanctuary

October 25 is World Lemur Day—a day dedicated to raising awareness about the critical conservation needs of lemurs, the most endangered group of mammals on the planet. Did you know that 98% of lemur species are threatened with extinction, and 31% are critically endangered? These gentle, intelligent creatures, native only to Madagascar, are facing immense challenges, and it’s up to all of us to help protect them.

Two years ago, I visited Chase Wildlife Sanctuary in Webster, Florida, for an unforgettable event—Acoustical Music with Lemurs. Imagine sitting in a lawn chair, listening to beautiful acoustic music while a troop of ring-tailed lemurs playfully hops around, feeding from your hand. It was a magical experience that connected me deeply with these amazing animals and the sanctuary’s mission.

Chase Wildlife Sanctuary is dedicated to improving the lives of exotic and wild animals that have been neglected, abused, or endangered. Their focus on species preservation for critically endangered lemurs and other species like Cotton Top Tamarins is vital for the survival of these animals. Through rescue, rehabilitation, and education, they are making a profound difference in the world of conservation.

After that first visit, I knew I wanted to contribute to their cause. Over the past two years, I’ve created 10 pastel paintings of the animals at Chase, and more are on the way! To further support their mission, I’ve launched the Chase Collection, featuring fine art reproductions of these paintings. Each one is matted and ready to frame, making it a beautiful addition to your home, office, or as a thoughtful gift.

With World Lemur Day just around the corner, this is the perfect opportunity to make a difference.  The Sanctuary was affected by both Hurricane Helene and Milton. Fortunately the staff at Chase did a great job in getting the animals to safety and no animal was injured or harmed. The property suffered massive flooding, trees down, branches and debris everywhere. Volunteers helped with the clean up but cages need to be repaired and secured to ensure the safety of the animals. By purchasing artwork from the Chase Collection, you’re not only supporting endangered species, but also contributing to the rescue and care of these animals. A portion of every sale goes directly to Chase Wildlife Sanctuary, helping to ensure that their vital work continues.
