My art business is expanding in some exciting new ways! Last November, I traveled to Colombia to scout a potential destination for future art, culture, and photography adventures—and it completely exceeded my expectations.
Colombia is a breathtaking country, rich in culture and biodiversity. During our time in the coffee region, we recorded an incredible 272 bird species in just eight days. I was especially thrilled to discover Mountain Toucans (I had no idea they even existed!) and to observe 32 different species of hummingbirds.
The plant life was just as inspiring. Orchids were everywhere—large, vibrant blooms growing wild in the trees, alongside miniature varieties no bigger than my pinky nail.
What struck me most, however, was the deep commitment to conservation at every location we visited. There is a genuine respect and care for the country’s natural history that is both inspiring and hopeful.
And the food—absolutely wonderful! I even picked up a new habit: hot chocolate for breakfast instead of coffee. It’s what the locals enjoy each morning… and now, so do I.
We’re currently planning a trip to Colombia for August 20–29, 2027, and I couldn’t be more excited to return. We’re finalizing the itinerary now, so be sure to save the dates!
Next Stop: Tanzania
My sense of adventure continues this week as I head to Tanzania, Africa, for another scouting trip. This will be my first time visiting Africa, and I’m especially excited to explore opportunities for photographing and sketching wildlife in the Serengeti.
I’ll be sharing highlights along the way—be sure to follow along on Instagram. It promises to be an incredible experience.
Peru: A Journey Through Culture & Nature
We are also returning to Peru this July for an unforgettable art and cultural adventure. This immersive experience will take us from the lush Amazon rainforest to the historic streets of Cusco, the vibrant capital of Lima, and the breathtaking wonder of Machu Picchu. This tour celebrates the richness of Peru’s landscapes, history, and culture—offering endless inspiration for artists, photographers, and anyone who loves the natural world.
Upcoming Teaching & Travel
Back home, I’ll be teaching again in Maine this September with a 5 day workshop at the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden, along with a new in-person workshop in Bonita Springs. More details coming soon!
And of course—Costa Rica is on the calendar! This beloved trip has sold out for the past four years, so if it’s on your bucket list, be sure to mark your calendar:
Costa Rica – Journey to the Heart of Rainforest- January 29 – February 7, 2027 We’re currently updating the website with all the details.
I hope you’re enjoying the fresh energy of spring. There’s so much more to come, and I’m excited to share it with you. Follow me on Instagram to see some of the exciting things I will be sharing!
