Millie the Two-Fingered Sloth

Millie the Two-Fingered Sloth

During my travels in Costa Rica I got to meet a very special Sloth. Meet Millie! She was the first 2 – fingered sloth who was rescued and brought tot he Toucan Rescue Ranch. As a tiny baby she was malnourished. The team at The Toucan Rescue worked night day and Millie was flourishing. Why is Millie a 2-Fingered Sloth? She is a Hoffmani choloepus sloth and they only have 2 claws or “fingers” on their front limbs. The 3-fingered sloth, Bradypus variegatus, have 3 claws or “fingers” on the front limbs. However, BOTH species have 3 claws or “toes” on the hind limbs. Want to learn more about the 2 different sloths found in Costa Rica? My friend Denise Gillen and I have the perfect book: “Where the Wild Sloths Roam”
