Barn Owl
$750.00
Barn Owl – Tyto alba
The Barn Owl is classically identified by its heart shaped facial disc. They nest and roost in cavities, abandoned barns and other buildings, as well as dense trees. Using excellent sound location they hunt by flying low over open habitats, searching for small rodents. They are mostly nocturnal. Barn Owls are found in North, Central & South America.
Did you know that owls with dark eyes like the Barn Owl are nocturnal? The way to tell is the dark colored eye pigmentation. The Barn Owl has dark brown almost black eyes where the Great Horned Owl has large yellow/gold eyes. The dark pigmentation helps them to see better in the dark.
