Tabu the Oncila

“Tabu the Oncilla – Wild Beauty in the Rainforest”
This vibrant colored pencil artwork captures the striking presence of Tabu, a rescued Oncilla (Leopardus tigrinus), now a permanent resident at the Toucan Rescue Ranch in Costa Rica. Drawn on archival-quality Stonehenge paper, this piece highlights the intricate fur patterns and piercing gaze of this elusive rainforest wildcat.

Once taken from the wild and kept as a domestic pet, Tabu’s natural instincts led him to hunt near farms after a failed release, putting him at risk. Rescued from euthanasia, he now thrives in a safe, enriched enclosure where he can live as a wild cat should.

This drawing is part of the Wildlife Rescue Collection, a series honoring animals saved from the exotic pet trade. A portion of proceeds from each sale supports wildlife rescue and conservation efforts in Central America. The painting is 11″  x 8″
