Merry Insectmas! A Festive Pastel Workshop with Mindy Lighthipe

Saturday, December 6, 2025. Time: 1:30-4:30 pm (ET)

Celebrate the season with a creative twist in this joyful one-day workshop dedicated to the dazzling world of red and green beetles! Perfect for artists and bug enthusiasts alike, “Merry Insectmas” brings together art, nature, and holiday cheer as we explore the iridescent beauty of insects that sparkle brighter than ornaments on a tree.

Under Mindy’s guidance, you’ll learn how to use PanPastels, pastel pencils, and Clairefontaine Pastelmat to capture the shimmering colors and intricate details of these miniature marvels. Work from BicBugs specimens or photo references to create your own small pastel masterpiece — an ideal gift for your favorite entomologist or nature lover! Click here for a Pastel supply list.

Whether you’re new to pastels or looking to expand your techniques, you’ll discover how layering, blending, and color harmony bring your beetles to life. Join us for a day of inspiration, laughter, and creativity — and take home a work of art that’s sure to make everyone say, “Merry Insectmas!”
